 SLOVENSKO 2002

Slovak Museum

The first international philatelic exhibition in Slovakia will open at the Slovak National Museum on July 4, 2002. (We do not known if they are marking the national day of the United States - maybe not). The International Post Stamp Exhibition SLOVENSKO 2002 will run until July 10.

The organizers of the Exhibition have invited the members of the Society for Czechoslovak Philately to come and participate in the many activities planned around the show. We have heard from out sister organizations in Great Britian, Germany, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic that they anticipate their members will attend in considerable numbers. This means that we will have an opportunity to make and/or renew philatelic contacts not only in Slovakia colleagues, but many from throughout Europe who share our philatelic interests. This an opportunity that should not be missed. So, if you are planning a trip to Europe this summer consider includimg a visit to SLOVENSKO 2002, or better yet, plan a visit to the Exhibition and visit Europe on the side!

Since hotel space can be at a premium during the summer months, SLOVENSKO 2002 organizers have made arrangements with Lucky Tours to assist participants and visitors with accommodations and other travel needs. Their coordinates are:

As an additional benefit, or incentive, to the Bratislava visitor during SLOVENSKO 2002 is the opening of an exhibition sponsored by the European Council-Central Europe about the year 1000. The cooperation of Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, and Hungary made this exhibition possible. It will open in the Bratislava Castle on July 7.
